Introducing our 2023 GDC Scholarship Cohort: Katie Sarnecky

Last month was GDC 2023, and we sent 10 GDC Scholarship recipients to the event. In this post series, we want to highlight our cohort from this year. Starting this series off, we have Katie Sarnecky, an animator from New England.

ADF: Congrats Katie on being part of the 2023 GDC Scholarship cohort! Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hello! My name is Katie Sarnecky. I am from Connecticut and graduated from Marist College in 2022. I am currently studying character animation at AnimSchool. I discovered my love for animation through video games. I’ve always loved the complex stories they can tell as well as the beautiful environments and animations they utilize. As an animator, I want to create games that impact people the way games have impacted me. I want to use my art to tell amazing stories and create unforgettable experiences.

ADF: What was one of the coolest things you learned at GDC?

One of the coolest things I learned at GDC is to not be afraid to put yourself out there and ask questions. People in the animation community are so nice and uplifting. They genuinely want to help and encourage questions.
