Introducing our 2023 GDC Scholarship Cohort: Angela Lopez

…And we’re back!

We have a few more 2023 GDC Scholarship recipients we’d love to highlight. For this post, we have the pleasure of introducing Angela Lopez, an entry level animator who’s looking to break into the game industry!

ADF: Congrats Angela on being part of the 2023 GDC Scholarship cohort! Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Angela Lopez. I just graduated from Animation Mentor, and am looking for a junior, entry-level, or intern character animator position. I live in Seattle and love my tortie cat! I love using her as references for my creature anims.Outside of work, I like playing video games, watching animated films, eating good food, paddleboarding, and traveling. It always amazes me how much life animators put into their characters and I am so excited to finally call myself an animator. The animation community has been super welcoming, and I can’t wait to keep growing and give back!

ADF: What was one of the coolest things you learned at GDC?

One of the coolest things I learned at GDC is that there are people and studios making games using alternative controllers, and I think that’s an amazing way to make gaming fun and more inclusive! It is also amazing to see how many people in this industry are welcoming and kind, and I can’t wait to see the industry continue thriving and innovating.
