When horrific events happen, such as the ones that recently occurred in Atlanta, it’s difficult to find the right words.
The Animation Diversity Fund condemns, in the strongest terms, any and all hatred and violence against minority communities, most recently Asian Americans. We mourn with those who lost their loved ones and we will continue to uplift marginalized voices.
Since the beginning of COVID-19 in the United States, hate speech and violence against the Asian American/Pacific Islander community has spiked significantly. AAPI reported 3,795 incidents from March 19, 2020 to February 28, 2021 (Source: Stop AAPI Hate). Anti-Asian racism and violent attacks on this community have not been a recent development, but together we can take action and stand in solidarity with the Asian American/Pacific Islander community.
Everyone deserves to live without fear of violence anywhere.
Stop Asian Hate.

Volunteering in Your Community
Some cities across the US have set up volunteer-based community safety programs. Some duties include checking in on community members, local businesses, and cleaning up trash in the area. The safety and resource needs can vary from city to city, so seek out your local Asian community center and ask if they have a volunteer program.
